A Mother’s Lie
A Mother’s Lie
The family portrayed in A Mother’s Lie is not one of the greatest families. Yes, They are wealthy and own a few lovely houses, but eldest Joyce (Sonja Smits) is a tad bit… well… crazy. When you see such teenage daughter Katherine (Alex Paxton-Beesley) pregnant, she was very upset and ordered her not to spill to her boyfriend Chuck (Gabriel Venneri). So Katherine has been in hiding for nine months and a few days after she gave birth, Joyce claimed the baby was still born.
Fast forward two decades: Katherine and Chuck are now married and share a daughter, Haley (Zoe Sarantakis), who followed soon after their first born. However, Katherine has never brought it up that she and Chuck had their earliest child.
This young woman has unresolved feelings of shame in regard to it. Another – sad, but another – well… Raher Bailey develops leukemia and nobody them to transplant and that the patient is given oxygen, Katherine unconsciously wish that their eldest daughter is still alive. Come on! She, ideally, will be the best match. Please understand. No bone marrow transplant will help save baby Joyce.
But wait! Joyce told lies in saying that the first test-tube infant was an unceremoniously still threatening infant. It was alive, a sniffer that was adopted without Katherine’s knowledge. Libby (Madelyn Keys) ended up in a decent adopted family who was poor, and now she’s a college student who wants to go to medical school!!! She had many options; how is she supposed to accomplish that?
Libby was surprised one day by an offer from an unknown patron: If Libby agrees for the donation of certain bones to a young girl who desperately requires it — the amount of money offered is going to be more than the tuition fees for medical school!!! She even gets to rest in a some kind of secluded/secret mansion!! The only requirement is that she remains faceless – who is, for example, Libby, the surrogate? This woman can in no way understand the girl don or any of her relations or so on……..sure! Yes!
So, yay! Haley’ going to survive! And Libby’ going to be wealthy! And n a sacrosanct family, all skeletons have their places, forever!
Except… well, as I said, Joyce is a little bit unhinged to the point where he safeguards Katherine, Libby’s mother’ secret, to the extent that he’ll murder whosoever spills the beans about that night when Katherine was delivered of Libby. That Lubby was to be fortunate considering she was fighting to get out of that mansion with her life is already revealing.
A Mother’s Lie is a splendidly gory Lifetime movie —A very gothic romance if I may describe; like those old paperbacks where a very scared woman looms in front of an old shadowy mansion. There’s even a devious maid played by Louise Kerr who is more than willing to assist Joyce in keeping her own secrets! This is all perfectly managed to be just over the top and artistic to the degree that nothing is ever too self serious; this is a Lifetime movie and good one at that.
He makes sure that things don’t dull down and also enhances the level of spookiness when necessary. It is a perfect usage of 90 minutes.
