Chosen One: Alexandre Daigle: The Chosen One is a new movie that came out way only on Amazon Prime and was made by Alexandre Daigle. Those are some of Alexandre Daigle’s inner thoughts. I realize most of you are unaware of who he is but I for one remember this guy and so do many 90’s hockey fans out There. I was one of them and recall few of the happenings quite clearly.

The narrative begins by explaining the place Alexandre Daigle held in the hockey universe. He had not had a lot of achievements in terms of performance output and yet he was able to alter a lot of things around him.

There are times when we perceive playing members of sports merely as digits. His sanity at certain periods through the evolution of the documentary was also of an interest. I guess it was also nice to hear him narrate the story together with his deceased father.

From scratch he started and hockey appeared in his genes. There are no personal favorites, he was passionately acquainted with the game but somewhere somehow something shifted in his mind and he never understood exactly what. It was however his achievement as a young man which finally secured him the first overall pick in the 1993 NHL draft by the ottawa senators.

What happened next is something that has never been known before and it has transformed the way the NHL treats their players and the new players as well. Right from the start he was seen as a super star and thus was offered money that teams do not offer.

From this perspective, it could be said that there was a lot of pressure for that teenager at that time. While you appreciate the reasons behind all the negatives aimed at Micheal, he was part of a pathetic team in the affirmative yet they were zealously constructing a franchise? How is it that they had another reserve, who was to be only a media personnel, Issy had to cover double duties and come on who came up with this nonsense? He fluently spoke French and English as well?

I think back to how we do have sports psychologists people to help with player development which now seems very far fetched for most of us is how much times have changed. In alexandre’s case, it would have been wonderful but he underwent a trauma instead of a treatment. I can well believe that the position of an athlete is desperate.

Even more difficulties may rested at that time on the shoulders of those of us who were raised in a society, this was normal; i.e. toxic masculinity. He would have been shunned, though, see a psychologist for doing anything that could be scrutinized by the media. There was a biographical picture, a mediatic photo where he has fun and dressed up as a nurse on media day, was publicly a laughingstock.

People might think accordingly, when they realize that this is one in light of his past history. A picture rises of the things that could have been.

But it also has other points too. They talk about expectations and the sense of self appreciation and self love. And there is Alexandre who, for some reason, took an unabiding turn of his career but eventually it did work for him. In every society, there are pre-determined constructs of what rightly constitutes success. This movie kind of tells you that we all need to sometimes stop and think if we can redefine what success means, thereby requiring that we cut out outside influences and be ourselves and seek happiness from within.

All in all I really enjoyed this one and it was quite insightful for me. I would recommend this to any 90s hockey fans, this will be a sad book and give some understanding of Alexandre. I also think that this could appeal to non-hockey watchers but there would be some terminologies or elements that they will not quite get. I am rating this one a 6.5 out of 10, I was sort of waiting to get more information, it seemed to me that they have omitted some information that I wanted to know so badly.
