Some people may recognize the name Spyder Dobrofsky. Besides writing Tubi’s Horror Western Teardrop, he was also one of the executive producers and screenwriters for NBC Peacock’s original movie The Housewives of the North Pole. Besides the great cast, is there more that might appeal to you about Downfall? Asking this question one more time: is it enough? Several movie trailers make movies sound and look great, but that does not guarantee the fact that the film will be great. Even a film’s synopsis is under promise, but sometimes it doesn’t work out.
Gravitas Ventures has prepared its plan to release Down Below on October 1st, 2024. To digital and Cable VOD, Down Below is the story of a man who participated in a horrific massacre that took place on Christmas at St. Agnes Church. Nicknamed a Psychological Horror film, Down Below is also missing a lot.
Time and time again lighting or even the filming style has ruined most good films, and so for Down Below, it is no different. The light is by and large poorly done with certain scenes being so dark you can barely see a thing. This is while the shooting style is quite disorderly and overly erratic. Even though this may be the director’s attempt at trying to tell apart specific characters and times, it fails here. Ultimately, everything is about continuity in film and Down Below appears to not know what that is. Sometimes some actors are standing in one shot and then in the next shot, they do not and it is quite clear.
From here, the acting portion of the film does seem to come off as strange, or while some of the performances are quite decent, for the most part, it is off. For example, Christopher Livingston (MindHunter series, 9-1-1 series) is quite adept at this. Dobrobsky is also playing a role and he is doing fine, just like Eric Roberts. However, there is underwhelming chemistry for quite a lot of the cast. For instance, Alexis Knapp was good in the Pitch Perfect films, but for Down Below there appears to be a certain disconnection from the character.
As stated before, some scenes are overly extended and some have been introduced into the film without any requirement the close-up shots do not seem to correlate with what is shown, and there are extra additions to the film that are unnecessary towards the plot. Such things, which might make the audience scratch their heads are too much in excess in Down Below. The acting is passable but the disconnection of the audience from the characters is likely to drive some people insane. Poor production cripples Down Below in having far too much potential, as it is.
