Ameena
Ameena
Ameena (UA), a production of Kumar Raj, tells the story of an actress who plays the role of a rape victim in a stage-play based on a real-life incident.
Meena (Rekha Rana) enacts as Ameena – a rape victim in a stage-play scripted by Aftab Hasnain (Ananth Narayan Mahadevan) inspired from the real life incident which happened with Ameena 32 years ago when she was raped by three men — Raghu Verma, Rajesh Raghwan and Mahendra Sawant. All these three guys gang-raped Meena one day but like her Arab 65-year-old husband whom she married at the age below 18 had raped her when she was below 18 years old just like Ameena. Anyhow unlike Ameena who committed suicide after being defiled, Meena kills all her three rapists instead.
This script is written by Aftab Hasnain and Dr. Prof. Kishan H. Pawar has penned down its screenplay too where former has written its story along with dialogues for stage-play portion while later did so for that part which is other than stage-play and both have too many similarities in them for audience to digest this much coincidence between two different characters’ lives named as “Ameena” played by Rekha Rana which makes sense neither literally nor metaphorically speaking through any stretch of imagination possible within human mind let alone beyond its limits; therefore making it very ordinary also otherwise said so far about this only thing being common between everything else included here except for their names i.e., ‘Ameen’. The screenplay is okay but fails to engage viewers. Dialogues are routine.
As Meena, Rekha Rana delivers an average performance while Ananth Narayan Mahadevan does well in his portrayal of writer Aftab Hasnain. Utkarsh Kohli is passable as Ashish – Meena’s lawyer boyfriend and Kumar Raj is ordinary as police commissioner Bhupen Joshi. Prof. Dr. Kishan H. Pawar gives a routine performance as police inspector Pawar, Manu Malkan does so-so job with the character Dada Ramchandani while Abeer Goel (rapist Raghu Verma), Ranjeet Jaiswal (rapist Rajesh Raghwan) and Rakesh Kumar (rapist Mahendra Sawant) are barely satisfactory in their respective roles.
Kumar Raj’s direction leaves much to be desired; music by Sujeet Sharma/Pravin Koli/Paresh Music/Hiten Patel lacks novelty value and lyrics by Lali Mishra/Dilip Sharma/Vakeel Qureshi/Pravin Koli/Vishwajeet are average at best; Gaysil Naubert’s choreography is okay but nothing special about Ismail Darbar’s background score either way you look at it; camerawork done by David Basu/Dwarika Mishra seems ordinary while action/stunt scenes performed under supervision of Suresh Kannaujiya/Shivac don’t generate excitement one would expect from such sequences considering their placement within overall narrative structure nor do they have any impact whatsoever on story telling process except prolonging its duration unnecessarily therefore making everything else seem even more monotonous than what has already been mentioned earlier regarding other aspects related to technical execution here so far reported upon by me; Mala Vazirani’s production designing doesn’t stand out among various creative departments involved with this project whereas editing carried out jointly by Ajay Varma/Bhupendra Pratap Singh/Himadri Shekhar Bhattacharya turns out fairly good without being exceptional in any specific areas covered during post-production period for which these individuals were assigned particular responsibilities.
