Disciples in the Moonlight by Ann Wueirst & D P Willmott is a gripping tale with intense political drama and an underlying message for Christians. The government of the United States has come up with a strategy to ban the Scriptures and to establish its own book called the Truth Bible. The private Christian underground has demoted a Christian leader, Nate, to act by sneaking Bibles to seven churches in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

Nate attempts to recruit Jim, one of the activist’s friends. But Jim’s wife was killed by state agents and Jim is concerned for the safety of his grown up daughter. Is there anything that would make Jim assist? And is Nate’s plan to sneak the treasures, a fake document, going to be effective?

Disciples in the Moonlight is a well written, dramatic thriller. Writer Josh Strychalski has incorporated some very interesting twists. The reviews for DISIPLES are positive thanks to the powerful direction of Nate performer Bret Varvel who plays the title character while also serving as the film’s director.

The storyline for Disciples in the Moonlight is inspirational for Christians as it presents a viewpoint that adheres to the Bible. In detailing the need to protect as well as disseminate and stand for the words of God, it also seeks to caution against government oppression. Disciples in the Moonlight in my opinion hits two birds with one stone as it is one of the most enjoyable faith-based films and thrillers in the recent history.

Focus Area:

Form and Content of the Worldview: The authors are deeply Christian, and their film work seeks to expose and promote the greatest crime in human history – the attempted genocide against Jesus Christ, the believers and the holy scriptures. The filmmakers believe that evil throughout centuries has tried to enslave mankind and suppress the truth, the cross, the Gospel, and Christians. This evil extends through nations and spans across geographical borders.

With US actors as a backdrop, this film exposes the unity between the Church, Jesus, and American culture. This unity is seen as active participation in God’s plan across every Epic imagination and is fundamental to the advancement of His kingdom;

Foul Language: There are no curse words or swearing in this particular video; however, several times, people call out to God, the Lord, and Jesus in prayer.

Violence: Order lies, government Agents engage in shooting, men shoot deceased and in same shoot one man is injured severely, an overt Christian is killed off screen, the frame cuts to a running train, which happens to ram into a pickup truck left standing on the railway,s government Agents take custodies of people, a woman who holds two men at shotgun point for the purpose of earning bounty money, uses a shovel and beats another woman, people are seen fleeing from some men, and, sporadic scuffle and fistfights and beating;

Sex: No sex;

Nudity: Shot of the upper torso of man is nude from distance lying in an ambulance and he is a shooting victim;

Excessive and Indecent Glamorization: There is no exposure to alcohol;

Smoking and/or Drug Utilisation: Woman can be seen smoking in the two different scenes. No drugs usage; and,

Miscellaneous Immorality: An oppressive regime fabricates and releases its own version of Holy book which the government then creates and then alters to facilitate the message of John 3:16- Universalism, there is no Hell, no Justice to the Gospel meaning the promise of shredding the people with the real Bible is over, it is clear the government Bible is much thinner too.

More Detail:

Ken Ham believes there are places governments would not dare look for Bibles and it is there where those aggressive programmed devout Christians have fled. These individuals have lost most of their family members and set out on a mission to fulfill what seems impossible to achieve. CREATORS OF THE NATION is a true story, based on a foundational struggle when a group of people attempts to thwart the world’s most powerful government. Together these seven devoted men and women risk everything to infiltrate deeply power-placed members of the US society.

Jim Edwards depicts a sad transition from teacher and reverend to an expectant father and violent survivor. To many, getting America involved with the war in Ukraine seemed unrealistic, others speculate the importance of such events, but Jim Edwards had just lost one of the closest people to him, and all he wanted was justice. A thundering feminist cultural movement here has triggered what it seems – the end of human civilization itself. It’s a race condition as Edwards recalls how the Bible is monopolized in America. If the US military wishes to eradicate every single region on humanity so the tyrannical leaders can remain in control, then so be it.

Previously, Jim worked together with ‘The Apostle’, who was reportedly the Springfield protest’s leader. Recently, The Apostle has contacted one of Jim’s friends – Nate Smith. Nate still belongs to an underground church. With the help of Nate, the Apostle asks him to get seven hard-copy bibles for churches in three states Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

Nate has a blueprint, but in order to implement it, he needs Jim’s qualification. However, Jim refuses because this would endanger his adult daughter Ashley, and he lost his wife. Help, begs Ashley, who has been so intent on assisting Nate that her father has tried to prevent her from doing so.

Is it possible to persuade Jim to provide assistance? Will Nate’s plan for smuggling succeed?

DISCIPLES IN THE MOONLIGHT is a book full of suspense and is interestingly written. Writer Josh Strychalski has inserted some really good twists and turns that keep viewers engaged. He participates in the smuggling hair bible, and this time he tries to deal with certain conflicts related to the family. The performances in DISCIPLES are strong, and the direction by Bret Varvel, who plays Nate, is excellent.

This offers the heavy message of defending and protecting the word of God and spreading it, while also admonishing oppression by the government. The film ‘DISCIPLES IN THE MOONLIGHT’ could be rated one of the recently best faith based movies and best thrillers too. Based on faith guidance in the movie, I foresee DISCIPLES IN THE MOONLIGHT winning several awards in the next year. The film should have a place in the Academy Awards, even though Hollywood seldom wishes to see a thriller film winning, and even less a thriller film that has an explicit remembered message of the right to worship.
