Since I am the filmmaker of ‘Gaza Is Our Home,’ I should point out that this film is my particular approach on the tragedy affecting my family and every other person in Gaza. I have over 150 relatives in Gaza. There was a time when I worked as a videographer for a property management company in Gaza until I lost 33 members to the earthquake that ravaged that region. Such things are not made up. They happen.
They turn you to a living nightmare and I remember Jerry not returning from work one day and getting fired in the blink of an eye it was very clear that what cruel things had befallen my family back in my country had to be addressed by me as well.
The focus of this documentary in particular is to install hope and humanity during a crisis. Prior to stating yardsticks and audit achievements, I wish to point out that this project did not have any studio or financial support.
This project became clear and matured with time. It was the acute assigned responsibility which made me pick the pieces of where I came from, the camera, and the vivid memories and faith that somehow through the images injustice and the pain of my people would be revealed even just a little.
I put in some labor on this forth, and it emerged in unexpected bounds. But as every single day brings out its own new frontiers, Gaza still suffers under the heaviest internal turmoil, elsewhere, the war drums are hampered by the urgency of getting footage of the heartbreaking events as they happen.
For me, these words are a proof: Let Gazans exist! Let them tell their stories! The world has been silent for too long. Yes, still, given what little power I have as a maker of such films – still it cannot depict all that is going on in the present day conflict areas such as Palestine because even when I am sitting behind the camera, it is witnessing genocide of a humanity more than any lens will ever take.
It is however becoming clear with every minute that passes without action from the world and its passive stand on the issue that shows just how much more work is required even further to those boundaries stated in this said movie making.
As observed from the criticism, it is true that all movements that are watching it should participate in the ‘Gaza Is Our Home’ project as part of this people’s life purpose if they wish to work together with other people willing and ready to help reconstruct this place once again.
While one stands with the victims of oppression and calls for justice let the perpetrators be brought to justice because of their widespread abuse of such genres as films and abusing the people who continue to suffer because of such genre films for what is defined as justice for Palestine but more so for all of humanity.
With this flagship documentary “Gaza is our home” slated for release within a month. B it fully still does not abandon people’s perception towards Gaza. Instead, it is my hope that through the images of violence and suffering of everyday people consumers get the courage to join in the cries of the defenseless who are begging for help against the endless barbarity which can only be cured by terminating the life of the one who is responsible.
