Project Z was the last movie in Aha OTT in which Sandeep Kishan and Lavanya Tripathi played the hero and the heroine respectively. It is a Sci Fi thriller directed by CV Kumar. Jackie Shroff plays the bad guy. Is this film better than that movie?
Sandeep Kumar works as a cop. A small crime scene erupts at that time also and he witnesses a murder. In attempting to nab a murderer, if wounded, he later regrets the day he had to cope up with the serial killer case there is in the city after he came back from hospital into action. In the same manner movie actress Visma (Akshara Gowda) along with her make up man (Maig Gopi) and some other stars are also killed.
Kumar doesn’t think that motivational speaker Rudra (Daniel Balaji) is guiltlessly behind these murders. It is hard to handle him. A neurologist, Pramod who had committed suicide had the similar behavour based thoughts and manners like Rudra yet Rudra that had thoughts of someone but himself gets turned out later when it is discovered that Pramod had performed an experiment in which ever memory in one person’s mind were ten rather than lost even if there were thousands then who do you have to blame?
Why does Kumar perform those extensive tests on himself? In that line of thinking Kumar realizes that Pramod is not physically but rather metaphorically committing these murders by grafting the memories of his brain into other peoples’ brains and vice versa.
Why was Pramod a scientist turned serial murderer killer? How Kumar did stop Army Major Satyan (Jackie Shroff), who morphed into a genetic monstrosity thanks to Pramod’s trial? In this tussle, how Adira (Lavanya Tripathi), Kumar’s girlfriend got herself into a fix? What did Kumar do to save his girlfriend? That is what Project Z movie tells us.
Until quite recently, the lion’s share of the production of science fiction films has remained under the control of Hollywood. But even Telugu is becoming eur within I believe not very long time. Science fiction genre stories have a lot of twists and turns even until the last minute of the film where everything comes together as in a puzzle so I guess it is quite a double edged sword for any director dreaming of narrating this kind of storyline on celluloid, it has its fair share of advantages as well. CV Kumar’s Project Z directed is a film completely resourced yes as a thought provoking and engaging sci-fi thriller.
On one hand there is Kumar hunting for the serial killer on the other Pramod’s experiment is thrilling from start to finish as science fiction crime thriller movie also there are subplots where pramod’s experiment is unfolding. The story idea given by him was good because it takes ideas from current researches about how man can live without dying.
The movie opens at a slow pace, presenting us the character of Kumar, the details of his profession, the mental instability problems he has suffered from since he was young up until the present in which we also meet psychotherapist named Adira who becomes his lover later in the movie. Then there come new killer in town, and with too many of them Kumar & the police under him seem unable to crack its series.
However every time they manage to peel the new crow a new crow appears, every time leading one step closer within deduction when it looks as if it would now be possible one with particular body of information to be careful. It’s interesting how the director himself approaches this.
Having observed Kumar it is obvious that the role of police officer Sandeep Kishan is perfect for him. This is because he is seen portraying lover boys in the movies but he also does Greek action as a police officer. Villain Jackie Shroff is stunned by the act.
He was a supporting character in the second half of the movie, a scenario that usually sees most characters for example villains or first heroines like in this instance Lavanya Tripathi playing Adira who has very little to do although does well in the time that she had because even the character Daniel Balaji was not bad at all even if one-way action is much less important than being first half of all films last…
