What do you get when you combine one single, always-working mother, a weird old man with his endless money and a charming reporter. And let’s not forget the cute little boy. Real life? NOPE. Maybe if you toss in alcohol and change the weird old man into a woman, you might be able to find a bit of my family Christmas. But that’s not the point. If you take 4 Jewish actors and have them play the roles I mentioned above, my guess is as good as yours as far as what they meant by ‘crazy’. Frankly speaking, I understand why the movie has such an end. Crazy for Christmas is literally what it says! The cast is headlined by Andrea Roth from my all time favorite show, Rescue Me, (too bad it was ruined by her), and Howard Hesseman of Head of the Class (great show, loved it!).
Shannon, who you and I know and love as my girl Janet on Rescue Me… Oh, how I miss those captivating TV shows. Moving on, Shannon limos and she just so happens to be a driver stuck working on Christmas Eve with an eccentric wealthy man Fred Nickels. Can you guess what happens next?! Well lucky for you, you’re about to find out.
This single mother prefers to spend the holiday with her son instead of going to work, but she is having one of the most surprising and fascinating (read: weird) holiday’s of her life. It is later revealed there is an interesting connection between Shannon and Fred and it still does not make this movie ANY good.
So this guy, for some odd reason, wants to give away his money all over the town on Christmas Eve. Surely this guy is real because Christmas would be so much better! As a Christmas fanatic I would love to put on my snow boots, and jacket and go outside and search for him. Just imagine if that Santa from ‘A Boyfriend For Christmas’ movie, along with the music director from ‘The Homeless Singing Man’ movie and A Christmas Choir, met at the same time. I can assure you that I would have a jug full of a “very merry Christmas!”
There were some other characters I haven’t talked about yet, some rather sexy looking ones. A man who just walks around throwing money at strangers, without a care for the world, would definitely grab attention. Because of this there would most likely be a handsome news reporter who has been given the task of following this man and reporting every single one of his good deeds, or in this case his ‘complete madness.’ Like every man on this earth, he would need to have something to do with the main hero. And I’m not sure if it’s the heroine, or Shannon. Why do you think he falls in love? Because we all know every woman, or single woman for that matter, loves a good happy ending.
One can only hope that this girl isn’t approaching cat woman status with how single she is, especially after her son has gone off to college and is now off to chase some woman (read: my life) Yes, that is quite negative don’t you agree? I am looking more towards the side of realism.
Now that I’m done with that, you have plenty of reasons not to bother watching life time movies like Crazy for Christmas which plys Christmas eve at 8 am, however, If you have family around driving you up the wall with their “crazy for Christmas” behavior, then this might just be the thing for you (Ambien also works, but I’m not the one to judge) In any case, you can see the part of the movie I’m talking about down below.
