Ancestry Road
Ancestry Road
The trailer for Ancestry Road has been made available this week. It is a new ghost story, a Tasmanian film based in Scotland. The film will be released in cinema in 2024.
Ancestry Road depicts the life and times of Kevin McGavin, his wife, and their three children. All of a sudden, their youngest daughter often shows up missing, wandering off to the back hill of their crime farm in Scotland. He just wanted to ensure that whenever she wandered off, there would be a road put up to prevent her from going far. But when strange people come out at night claiming to be long dead family members and driving down that road, they wonder what business these people have with them and why they have returned from the dead.
It is known that Kevin’s father passed away a long time ago when he was still a boy, so until then, no one had learned anything about him or… ever met anyone from his father’s family except for Mother who died two years ago after delivering their third baby. For this reason, quite naturally, people have begun to expect greater and greater numbers of deceased relatives for hot tea. In that case, Kevin was dragged into the research and started looking for his own family tree in order to restore his lost ancestors and shed light on other intriguingly carried visits with ease. With a lot of assistance from Rosie, the local bookshop owner with a large customer base, many people with very interesting ancestors were located, and as usual, they lived here many years earlier.
Triggs writes: ‘When my mothers departed this world two years ago it was the most sorrowful instant in my life, but at the same time triggered me to make this film which is dedicated in her honour.’
In addition to writing and directing the Ancestry Road, Glenn Triggs also produced it with Marlyne Afflack (director), Vivian Townsend (producer) & Valeria Tennerini (producer).
Filmed in 17 days in August 2023, the independent feature was shot on location in Oatlands and neighbouring areas located in the Midlands of Tasmania; several residents took on the role of extras in a scene that required a group walk.
Other projects by film director Glenn Triggs include Apocalyptic (2014), The Comet Kids (2017) and Dreams of Paper and Ink (2022).
Mark Marshall (Star Wars, The Goonies, Harry Potter) was executive producer for Ancestry Road; Dark Epic Films was also involved as a producer.
For this movie, director of photography was Benjamin Bryan and Heath Brown wrote the score.
