Bye Bye Boredom
Bye Bye Boredom
Bye Bye Boredom: Speak not a word, hear not a word. According to proper folklore, the Bye Bye Man is a ghost or demon for that matter. His attack on you will only take place when you talk concerning him or when he is in your think. So what will be the way out? Just do not have to think about the evil and the evil will not show up. Well, that is unfortunate, and instead we get a dull hour and 36 minutes of a movie yawn over terrible storytelling and acting.
In theory at least, “Bye Bye Boredom” can be said to be appealing. There is some spiritual being that makes a person its prey but can in no way do this as long as you do not speak about it or think anything about it. As much as I can, there has been no other horror film that features such a conditional attacker as the Bye Bye Man.
Which is what makes the authorities and the children or main characters of the film necessarily fight off even at least for a while any expression of this sinister phantom. However, he is poorly develop in the feature films, the Bye Bye Man’s character.
Mostly because of how slow this movie is. It is never fast pacing and therefore tends to over drag a lot more than even anticipated. Not until halfway where there is still further appropriate pacing do they start bringing in any horror elements but by then it’s already too late and nobody cares anymore.
What makes the slow pace even worse is how bad everyone acts in this movie. It gets irritating to the point where whenever a new person comes into the scene and speaks their dialogues it absolutely takes you out of the whole thing simply because of how hilarious of a scene it was.
In one of the scenes in which one of the college students gets also startled, they say “What’s that”? And it’s delivered in an unusually out of character way that even though it’s supposed to be tense, the actor performed it to the level of a horrible high school play, and all hope for any tension in the scene is completely gone.
The plot also does not seem to be some masterwork of the storytelling art. One part that specifically stands out for me was how horrible what is essentially The Bye Bye Man’s back story is supposed to be. For example, there’s this dog demon thingy who helps him…why? Some of these questions never get addresses, leaving readers with such emotions still present even if they wish them to go away. It merely co-exists with The Bye Bye Man for no apparent purpose.
I’ll tell you what, ‘Bye Bye Boredom’ is pure crass. The movie contains junk, as in the idea, junk inside. Of course, you know what else needs to be there in a movie? Anything more than that. It would not be fair to say that ‘Bye Bye Boredom’ is a good movie because it actually is bad and is a waste of time and energy to even watch it. If you do want to watch it, take somebody with you so that you’ll have somebody with whom you can laugh your heads off afterwards.
