While discussing his Gujarati movie, Trivedi Remarked, “After Mrugtrushna, which was quite a hit in the festival circles, this is for me my second movie. Mara Pappa Superhero is a very special movie of mine also because it was conceived during our lunch at MICA.

There is a lot that I appreciate MICA for, for the reason of having such a place to recreate my imaginative self. And people are watching the film. This makes me a happy person.”

This is an emotional and heart touching family drama about a little girl from Gujarat who envisions that her father who hawks wares on the roadside is actually a superman in disguise. Kanku with the wrought of Bhavya Sirohi is an innocent little girl who desires and finds contentment in miniature presents.

One such day while she is playing with her affluent friend Kiara Jaanushi Oza, she hears her friend boast about her father being a superman.

Kanku’s eyes burn with curiosity and she starts probing Kiara as to why in the world her father is called a superhero. The answers that Kiara gives Kanku makes Kanku think that her father who is a vendor on the street called Bhavlo the character played by Abhinay Banker is also a superhero. This she embarks upon a quest to prove to everyone that her convictions are true.

It is intriguing that like Darshan’s very first film Mrugtrushna even very simple stories are told , in this case through children’s perspective which is very touching. The common thread that links these two films is that they offer a glimmer of hope and children’s innocence with is the mentally challenged protagonists who eventually emerge as the heroes.

But Mara Pappa Superhero is more normal and plausible in comparison than that one. The beginning part of this movie shows us a slighlty spooky yet ordinary class divide among the children… and yet still do not let that be cynical about what is happening around them ! In fact, it even goes on to support the larger theme of the film that is humanity and human interactions that other parts setup in the later part of the story.

Kanku ’s family goes through economic hardships, yet at no point is the issue of their poverty sensationalized or romanticized in the course of the trajectory of the story development. When crisis strikes wen notice how they all come together huddled as one and act to seek the resolutions.

It is such a progressive adaptation where all three actors Abhinay Banker, Shraddha Dangar and Bhavya Sirohi excel. It is worth noticing that when Shraddha performed in Hellaro she danced on the dhol while here she SRIGHTS . Personally speaking though I think Bhavya in fact deserve to be called in a more sophisticated term, brilliant, maybe the show stealer.

Where calls for action are made, one uses such words that introduce any bald & brash Superhero. Beginning with classification or characterizing super-hero term here, it is advisable to refrain from zombie types of definition as super-heroic in rugged nastiness. The pattern tends to become a defining aspect of life as a plight that works on how poor families cope with the journey of life – with their backs against all walls. Rightly at that dolly also indicates what happens next so to speak in the story shall go.

Probably the most wonderful thing that could be mentioned is the practical incorporation as many of them. However there are some problems which could be improving at least from the viewer perspective. Anchor’s voice over sometimes cuts rather ungracefully during the editing while switching to another scene. For the sake of perfectionism in cinema for my taste these details should be correct.

We have seen how Indian cinema has vilified fathers & patriarchy through decades. However this film cheers themselves up and gives tribute to every dad like patronising mothers. Nevertheless this transformation is more recent such as Chaal Jeevi Laiye in a ghar khaloop within the volume space.

Nonetheless, in the course of the film lot of attention is paid to parents…and mainly the fathers – the appreciation of their sacrifices is rather strong. Furthermore, based on the current circumstances when the world fights an awful disease; this Mara Pappa Superhero reminds us that every hero does not wear a cape.
