In this movie, there are few Indonesian actors such as Bulan Sutena, Catherine Wilson, Yama Carlos, and others. To put it simply, the film Rambut Kafan is about Anwar (Yama Carlos) and his daughter Tari (Senin Sutena), who are from a good family.
All was going well except that their mother went through a miscarriage and some abnormal baby was born. At the same time, Tari’s dread was fulfilled when Anwar’s younger brother Suban (Aiman Ricky) asked for the inheritance.
As, Dani did not take accept the full and final end of their mother, Dance undertook what in her mind was puzzle about their family riches in quite a shattering manner.
Right from the very first frame of the film Rambut Kafan, the audience should already feel strained because of the constant anxiety – which is rather due to the muted colors and music scores, which although are not much just suffice to give them hint that they better get ready for what is coming in.
Even so Helfi Kardit’s every second loophole portrait about Pain and sadism does not expose more than he has built up on, which only goes to augment that phobia. And although gory sequences are there, still do not let us believe that those gory sequences are out of the context.
It could also be seen that Bulan Sutena is able to act as Dance being the main player when in fact this is the first time she plays in a big screen film with horror genre but credit goes towards acting straight as wow she is able to express right feelings so that we too can feel how she feels and it was this acclamation that she earned from them all together.
Now putting aside Bulan Sutena, Nita Gunawan who also shoots her first film can also be described as satisfactory needing only to perform dead crowd but even then she has managed to perform, with some movements and expressions, that contributed to the accumulation of terror for the viewers.
And finally this movie definitely has twists and turns of events which provokes eager attitude in listeners’ perception towards the novel. The built plot twist was rather surprising considering the facts when lot of critics predict a shocking twist don’t always fulfill when the event takes place such reactions disappoint rather than fascinate with a fine interpretation.
However contrary lightness of having raised story such in this movie does raise however the treatment of the content in this case of movie became way too stretched to the point of boring to watch. But this is helps out by some jumpscare-jumpscare planted at certain places that helps so that we can still have enjoyment in terms of coming up with a story.
Besides that or, as it happens many times in this film Rambut Kafan, new characters are introduced but never really bother to explain from where they come. Is it supposed to be a mystery or there is a hole in the construction of the narrative as to why such a role within the story is taken – I think this will cause a lot of confusion to many people watching as to what this role means.
Lastly, the appearance of picture developed of ‘hairman’ ghost is rather less visible as far as possible; which prompts further questions as to which being in fact for reason of fear tormented arood family? Even more captivating to viewers are the dark science rituals that have been performed.
