The Queen’s Ball: Ever since I heard rumors that The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience was coming to Australia, I have been completely beside myself. This was something I always wished would come here but never thought it would – especially not in my town.
Like many people I am aware that there is no dress code or demand for ‘authenticity’ when you attend such an event. That said though I did also consider what to wear as it is just a sad thing if such an occasion came about and people did not dress up for it! Why would you pass up a chance to try to impress a Queen no less?
I am also with a lot of people in saying this – I am a big fan of romance, drama, and all things entertaining each and every season film and television shows are played. But the best thing, hands down, about Bridgerton for me and most likely, many others, is the costumes. They are bright, beautiful and detailed with intricate textures, pieces of work that are created by hand.
It is every single time of being stunned when one of those pieces is in front of the eye. And that it combines so many cultures as well as so many characters, just wow. The story is set in the Regency period of England, however, who knew with Shondaland collaborating with Netflix we could now have characters from different ethnic backgrounds in the stories projected through performances like these.
After my binge of Part One of Season Three, the day, which I had been so much looking forward to, finally arrived. Even though I say a long sleeved top with Chinese characters Vargas Sport Institute was above my aspirations level.
Close your eyes and imagine a beautiful high-waisted flowing blue gown fully embroidered with Chinese dragons, topped with blue lotus tiara. Insert in my right hand a large feathered blue tipped fan with hanging lotuses from its base, opened at all times, and round my neck is a jade green & gold dragon pendant. Yes, you get it—super extra!
When I arrived at the venue several hours early because I was quite sure there would be hundreds who had been standing outside queuing and they had to be stretched across busy strees leading to who knows where…. Well, there were not.
I was greeted with two queues, one for ladies and another for those without ladies, this was VVIP queue. Instead there were a couple of lines two-lines: one to the left side can be VIP ticket holders and this line I assume is for friends and well wishers of GA peeps where standing closer towards front was of course prime location for those wanting priority entry.
Inside the building as well, light cocktails ws also served to the audience in focus during the course of the evening so as to keep some appetites at bay. This time, I however, did not try their cocktails fusion of which I couldn’t get enough of, but I did manage to indulge in this amazing zesty lemon cake that was delicious if I may say so.
Passing through an ornate gateway swathed in cascades of purple blossoms much like wisterias on the forefront of Bridgerton house, several kiosks selling cuisines and beverages dotted the edges of the venue, – all very much in theme! Well snap! If at any point you ever feel slightly under par without a tiara hand fan or gloves, there is even a Modiste at hand.
There are a wide variety of designs & colours available as well! There are loads of photographic opportunities equally as spread through besides that too such as which I would strongly advise undertaking these before any of the drinks have been consumed or attempted standing with a dance on the black & white checkered floor… I am going to suggest you on the last two events.
Photo spots have: Brightly illuminated embracing space with pillar surrounded by flowers & hanging beads as decor; High stage with deep red curtain; Red leisure chair surrounded by the picture framework with a heavy vase with flowers on both the sides and finally this comes a special set up wielded by Activity Valet/phone portrait photographer Jake Keen who helps take your photo in a way that it seems like a painting – hard copy provided. Also, do not miss the fact, go and see display measured Queen’s costume as a Queen herself would be allowed so close to the detail.
Scattered among the well-dressed attendees are dispersed the gorgeous characters of The Queen’s Ball are hidden in the crowd. These characters are portrayals of various historical characters from talented cast members including Alexandra Vladimirov playing O’Leary as Lady Maria Branwell, Nicolas Mena depicting Healy as Lord Wilfred Fitzwilliam, Emily Lodge acting as Lady St Clare, Mr. Ridgway as Sir Harris, Lachlan Purcell as Highthe Queen’s Vallet, Beth Cain as B Lady In Waiting and Claire Chihambake as The Queen.
The teaser features a unique Australian show/s hot Yvette Lee who takes over, and resident choreographer Hara Papoulias and contributing choreographers Alexandra Vladimirov and Neville Parry witness the action. Stage management is bearing Christine Young but keeps the help of floating stage manager Rose Zita Falko who appears on main stage as well.
However, these Ton Members, do not just sit in the back, but walk around for the guests to admire them from the seats. They move around! They take ‘Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers’ to hand out! And they even talk to you too if you want. If someone enjoys dancing there are enough occasions to learn some steps during the night.
During one song at some point, when the music was present David Clausen-Wisken was the music director and all the time David Youings played the piano and Rose Kavanagh the violin very well — what made me laugh was, as we were all dancing about, listening to Purcell ad lib some comical banter and instructional dialogue with Rickard. I was so busy laughing I forgot my steps!
Just like the show this experience is also multi twinery cultured, inclusive and holistic; first of all different styles including the different generations all come together! I thought there would be a distinct age bracket – oh boy, was i wrong! Some in outfits with their own cultural touch like a really beautiful girl wearing an embellished black formal sari, many shocked as a family brought their happy grandma in a wheelchair to join in the action, there was even a dancer with a disability twirling on the floor with only patrons cheering and clapping.
All this and more made my heart so warm looking at how the world is truly a beautiful place. Bridgerton isn’t just a show; it is a cult. This is the stuff myths are made of and I fervently hope that it doesn’t disappear into obscurity any time soon.
My god, there was also a party game where we all had to trot through an archway constructed of fellow members! I don’t even know the cv Weaver’s Party that it belongs to – there was such a cute little dance and running through the…
But perhaps a please admit me at this point we cannot defer this overwhelm at least hear me out. It has, in fact, nothing for me from one girl missiles said during first day ‘We’re Vikings! And hundreds ago!‘
It was threatening to spill so much regret at us I even slammed the wall rather than risking anything. I was so over the place that everything that was happening around me was other moments in history that have to be seen and comprehended through the medium of pictures saved.
For example, i got so caught in the moment that there’s no point in holding back and just enjoying all the action unfolded in front of me — and never once took out my phone to capture any of these moments. Plus gloves and mobiles do not go together! They are flimsier and were not invented in 1813! But in case you want to shoot videos during the performances of the boys – random thing for me free am amazed at what is like in shooting of this so you can.
There’s a rather peculiar thing attending The Queen’s Ball. It is the case in the way that the Queen comes to us. She should be here, as she could not be more appropriately presented than in the corner of the room. Though she always came in silently somewhere towards the middle, to observe the guests, to stand still.
For you VIP patrons, you have a chance to bow or make a curtsy to her. Lines to greet the queen made much sense at the moment, until one by one my free will disappeared and I found myself doing a reverse of a curtsey, bowing instead! It was only a matter of time for me to think that it better be a pretty one or else go on reading the thoughts of the Potato of the Season.
It was time for the Queen to name the Diamond of the Evening and when it did, I could not contain my joy when Liam Roodhouse, a storming and very handsome queer man dressed in a luxurious black suit was lifted onto that circular stage.
It was an overwhelming moment for me that I choked up again after realizing how wonderfully diverse Bridgerton is. It is not only about a girl in a beautiful gown. This particular experience and the series it stemmed from mean so much more than that.
A Bridgerton event is never complete without a love tale entwined in it, and Mena’s Lord Wilfred Fitzwilliam and Vladimirov’s Lady Maria Branwell falling in love with each other on that dance floor is as precious as it is wonderful – having the privilege of watching around when the right rhythm ingests two bodies into one like this should always be considered such a privilege, which is not only present within ourselves मासिक कला magzi but even outside, if only, then perhaps, we would understand? Yvette Lee has definitely cast her spell another time so that there cannot be possibly any more questions left unanswered am I right?
You do not really need to know what the show is about though being one will surely make one appreciate more the The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience which has been wonderfully constructed in spite of some people (who can be called, to some extent, as fans) who enjoy these details from time to time… Be it about going solo on this one; hoping to meet new friends with whom they share the love of Bridgerton series or coming in together with a bunch of buddies; coming in as a date and enjoying the whole night out together; bringing in the entire family so that they can share the special moment of love declared or simply getting the chance to enjoy and revel in what could be the most beautiful night ever in ones life – no matter what category one fits into – The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience is perfectly able to safely say that it has beautiful well made theatrical immersive experience on hand and a fun time in store for anyone who attends it.
You will be taking a picture from the series, which took place in the past. The best part is, although there’re no ticket stubs as the memento out of this wonderful event; it is only Lady Whistledown’s written words which you will take home with yourself… On the other hand, let me say one more thing: I really wish had taken picture next to ‘Duke’, who is residing here always, why, why so.
What’re still waiting for huh?? Come on people; go book those tickets now!! for The Queen’s Ball It is high time to start thinking about your moves as trust me when I say that being able see Her Majesty yourself does not happen very often indeed. Go on then, make those include no encouragement for me to become referred back to as Potato again next time, if ever, I get the privilege of a second visit that is, lol!
