Sai Ram Shankar, younger brother of Puri Jagannath, has not quite made it in the film industry, having been working hard for it. To date, he has not been able to break through and now he is coming up with a film titled Vey Dharuvey. Directed by N Ravi Reddy, Vey Dharuvey movie will hit the screens on 15 March, 2024. So, let’s see how much Sai Ram Shankar manages to impress us with Vey Dharuvey.

Synopsis of the Movie: Vey Dharuvey is about a Karimnagar born Shankar played by Sai Ram Shankar, he fails to clear his engineering exams and heads to Hyderabad unable to have any job. In Hyderabad, he develops feelings towards a girl called Shruti played by Yasha Ravi Kumar but this romance does not last long as shocking facts come up relating Shankar.

Investigating hardly, he instead discovers a different thing. A scam faced by Fly Consultants’ CEO, Satya Harishandra Prasad, and his brother, Banu, and many such players. Shankar, on the other hand, is not simply a journalist doing the tales; when there are issues, there are issues and he shall defeat all of them including foes and also one’s personal woes.

As much as it is a love story, it is a self-discovery saga of Shankar as he identifies the ideas and interpretation of love, of bringing about justice. However, through this transformation, he not only aims to heal himself but also strives to bring about a constructive influence in the world.

Muting his character Sai Ram Shankar makes a distinct effort to change his appearance and behaviour which added dimension to Sai Ram Shankar’s character. His private affair with dancing and stunning fight choreography was exceptional. And yet as the film progressed, I was sorry to note that the very interesting sounding narration repeated after me grew somewhat tired.

She does equally well in handing her role, Yasha Ravi Kumar’s part was quite ok. She was quite stunning in one of the song sequences raising the glam quotient of the film.

Both Sunil and Devraj Pothuru made the performances of the antagonistic characters believable and therefore were credible in this aspect of the story. Kashi Vishwanath assumed the role of a middle-class father with complete conviction and it appeared to be designed specifically for him.

Many supporting artistes, 30 Years Prudhvi, Satyam Rajesh, Posani Krishna Murali, Prabhas Seenu, Chammak Chandra, Vinod Vijayan and Roller Raghu included gave comic relief through their mere presence and performed offbeat other scenes. Their acts brought in comic shades to the movie insulating the seriousness of the emotions by incorporating humor in between the different emotions.

Naveen Reddy took the path of least resistance to write Vey Dharuvey by getting in young love and a reversal of a fake degree rackets’ impact on society subplot. The plot follows a beaten-down track from beginning to end with first half managing to catch some anticipation partly due to comedy sequences involving supporting cast.

But in second half there is a beat low feeling as in this part of the film silly Naveen Reddy adds emotional arcs which domesticate the audience to the story and all its decorations. Ending to this short story was no surprise and has been in done in a similar manner than before.

Well, though the love angles are there, the story is quite predictable but still road has been paved and screenplay is also stuck in dullness. Dialogues are also not spectacular and none come to the fore.

Satish Mutyala’s Cinematography is average except for one reasonably well shot buzz of a song shot with some scenic locales. Bheems Ceciroleo’s music is enjoyable and a couple of songs have even been used in appropriate sequences. The background score is suited for the plot well.

Uddhav’s editing is inefficient with numerous extended movements and a little in the way of repetitive sequences except more so after the intermission. Ordinary dialogues are average while production values are pretty good.

The subject Vey Dharuvey ventures out into love story notion of 80’s but like yes you have warmed to that! Sai Ram Shankar does try to show different mannerism and one should appreciate the effort, but it does not help the cause of the film much.

Directors Naveen Reddy indeed wanted to make a light-hearted first half and a deeper emotional second half, but the manner used to achieve this turned out to be a little unconvincing. This could have been avoided if they were willing to go back and improve the script a little bit more.

Traditionally, ‘debutante’ balls are meant to present young ladies before the society as matured members. But in Australian comedian Rebel Wilson’s directorial debut, “The Deb,” there’s nothing even resembling “polite society.” Wilson’s character’s range from rude to outrightly offensive — none more so than the obnoxiously vulgar small-town beautician Wilson plays in crass John Waters […]
