His & Hers
His & Hers
His & Hers: Some actors are just too cute, too charming. Any character that they play is captivating. Brennan Elliott and Lacey Chabert are some actors and when they are put in the same movie. You know for sure that you will spend the whole time watching the movie with a smile on your face.
The two star in His & Hers, The Hallmark Channel’s First Fall Into Love movie during 2024 Fall season. Two lawyers – who are married to each other – who love each other. And I don’t mean love as in many, they are deeply in love, where you can’t eat or sleep. Their level of love is unique where you will need to take notes to replicate it.
They work for different firms and it’s working. One is into family law and the other one is a corporate lawyer. They celebrate their anniversaries as many as the years they have been married. It is their seventh wedding anniversary, they will spend seven days celebrating it.
The two of them are now assigned to new cases. This new case is the one case that is going to be the reason for their rivalry. The case? The divorce between two celebrities who were married to each other.
Mark (Elliott) and Dana (Chabert) are hopeful that they will be able to find a compromise. They claim that they will be able to persuade the couple to sign a settlement agreement so that they can put the past behind them.
However, the couple is not going to agree on any such settlement. They will do whatever it takes to make sure that their opponent gains absolutely nothing.
Where I am sure we should focus on the reality couple – The Nobles – story line, for the sake of honesty, I was not. Bored of it, but that is my issue. I do not often mind the predictable but when it came here, it was clear that it was a publicity stunt quite a fake divorce. Had they really had me believing they were getting a divorce, I would have found it much more interesting.
The thing is, I thought there would have been a lot more to drama. Just the marital drama between the Nobles seemed rather weak. Do I have any ideas what I was trying to look for? Not at all. I also believe that I was such engrosse with Mark and Dana — which is a good thing.
I was curious as to how the situation was applying pressure on Mark and Dana. The two only wished to stay true to each other yet had to withhold certain matters because they were both legal professionals – it’s the whole lawyer/client privilege nonsense.
The conflict existed but it was understate. There is Mark and Dana, these two characters that make you believe how love can be.
The couple even raises the question whether it is time to expand their family while still putting the case together. There are for and against arguments. There is always the issue of self-actualization through raising a family but these two seem to be able to engage in discussions surrounding the risks and benefits of their decisions. I appreciated the way the film depicted the natural way people interact, with discussion being the important factor that allows processes to change. It is sacred to vex things out.
In the end, the Nobles manage to come to an agreement and not just that, they also make the entire process look like a very big affair in the courts. This is so much that they are even able to market their latest concept as a new type of show which is couples therapy. I tell you, I rolled off the couch with hysterical laughter on that one. Even when the assistant who they turned into the antagonist of their drama somehow made it onto the program and exposed them.
His & Hers was laughter with a touch of love. The film dramatizes the quest to break away from the feminism of Hallmark films. If it wouldn’t be for its stars, at this time, I don’t think I would have liked it as much as I did. But because of the way Elliott and Chabert are able to carry the film – I liked it more than I expected.
The best part about the movie is the presence of two actors who have such strong appeal that it does not really matter what they star in; it’s a watch. It is possible to claim that Brennan Elliott and Lacey Chabert have a chemistry that is unique in its own right. They are comfortable with each other and that allows them to play in ways not all actors can. Most times, their timing and how they are able to play off each other is quite something and worthy of emulating by other actors in the industry.
His & Hers is all the goodness of Hallmark. It made me smile and humor was something I appreciate as well.
