Glenn Fredly’s portrait of life was also seen in the movie directed by Lukman Sardi named Glenn Fredly: The Movie. The movie was produced by Robert Ronny and Daniel Mananta working with Marthino Lio as the main character.
In this film, Ruth Sahanaya is featured as well, together with Bucek Depp, Zulfa Maharani, Sonya Alyssa, Sahira Anjani, Winky Wiriawan, Aufa Assegaf, Gilbert Pattiruhu and others. Also well known musicians who are close with Glenn like Ridho Slank or Webster Manutuhuu and so on were also casted in this movie.
As what the title said Glenn Fredly: The Movie revolves around the life and times of Glenn Fredly whose fame came to dislike in the year 2000s due to January song. He came back to Ambon and attempted to bring entertainment into the lives of the people in that region despite the ongoing riots. He encounters a fan who, unbeknownst him, is a guard at an Islamic church.
Only then, Glenn turned to his back to the audience and turned into a quivering mess, only blubbering without getting any sound out. Just as he was going to commence on the record, muted agitation occurred at the church, and right before his comprehension a bunch of his devoted disciples and some of his fans were perforated within seamless sight. From that point Glenn began to devise that it is his intend to maintain that there should not be a riot in ambon anymore.
It seems like Glenn’s father, too, was not happy with his return to Ambon and this, among other things, unhappy, made Glenn confused. They struggled until he made up his mind to leave the house for good. Much later, he struck the capital where he would begin his singing career
Its just that it didn’t stop there, while on journey towards drowning Glen felt need help other unaware everything falling apart around him too relationship with loved ones collapse same time
There are good moments just like this one in Glen’s picture where they do structure the stories of events and resources embodying songs to be direct in-betweens of them. This movie will get audience sing but indeed every song of glenn have its own magic
Marthino Lio has also played this movie where he does depict Glen in this movie (Glen), and do not accept Lio was irritating. His movement, and his way of speaking is really a glen like. Essentially, if it heard and closed eyes Lio’s mouth moves like Glen’s voice
Tag line for this movie would be love, music, family. And then the family becomes a side, happens that he dominates and becomes the plot of the film. Only biopics went on screen this was biopics of Glenn, good excerpts from his biography, the best ones were selected.
From this movie, the audience will understand many things about Glenn, starting from his attempt to promote Ambon as a music city up to the seldom mention matters of his connection with his dad. Concerning interactivity with Bucek Depp and Ruth Sahanaya it will also make both act well support Lio.
With regard to plot segments sadly this is not the most strong point of storytelling in this case a crystal clear A1 A0 time log is missing, letting flow to fill the blanks so to speak.
That being said the filmmakers or rather the Glenn Fredly: The Movie does end film story on good note instead and making look and fiction this film transit from fictional story (Marthino Lio) into original one (Glenn Fredly).
This film does not just simply become a biography and of course aims on showing that there is and will be a musician in Indonesia who struggles with the music industry, literally to the very last point. Thanks to Marthino Lio’s acting in this film sequence as well is devoted to the binding of society through family.
